March 18, 2020: President's Message
Financial Planning Association of Northeastern New York, Inc.
Adam McNeill, Chapter President
The Financial Planning Association of Northeastern New York, Inc. continues to monitor the rapidly changing situation related to the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
We understand that concerns for health, safety, and the impact on meeting attendance, among other issues, are affecting our members.
Given new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that Americans cancel or postpone events of 50-plus people for the next eight weeks, our FPA NENY is not holding any in-person meetings at least through April 15, 2020 and our Board is slated to discuss our options for our meetings through May 20, 2020.
Therefore, our March meeting will be presented to you online, and we will be making a decision soon regarding our April and Symposium meetings.
If you are registered or planned to exhibit at an FPA NENY event scheduled to be held between now and May 20, and we decide to cancel or postpone our event, you will be eligible for a credit for that event, which will allow you to apply it to our next monthly meeting or Symposium.
Our Board of Directors is also looking at alternative means of delivering educational content and resources with our FPA NENY community. As mentioned above, this month’s meeting on March 19th:
Social Security: What Financial Planners Need to Know
presented by Elizabeth Pivonka of the Social Security Administration
will be provided to members on our new Zoom.us platform. All Season Pass/Combo holders, Chapter Partners, and ticket purchasers of this event will soon receive a detailed email of instructions and Ms. Pivonka's PowerPoint slides. You are encouraged to make a test run of the Zoom program and submit any issues to us before the meeting HERE.
If you are unable to attend the live presentation, you will have access to the recorded session afterward. Just email us for the link.
We will continue to manage our Chapter as an efficient and inclusive resource for the financial planning community and as the premier association of financial planners in Northeastern New York. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Thank you.
President, Financial Planning Association of Northeastern New York, Inc.

We are the local chapter of the nationally recognized Financial Planning Association. Our chapter is based in Albany, NY and encompasses the northeastern portion of New York (Utica to Plattsburgh to Kingston), western Massachusetts and Vermont.

Our chapter offers a variety of services, including monthly breakfast meetings where our members come together to share ideas and learn from our sponsored speakers. Each month our chapter invites a speaker to our meeting to talk about a subject of interest to our members. Most sessions cover topics which qualify for Continuing Education credits.

We also host an annual full day symposium, which is often the highlight of our year!
